MCAT Scores

The MCAT scores are given for each section of the exam. The scores range from 1-15 for each of the multiple choice sections.

For the Verbal Reasoning section, you will receive a score from 1-15 (15 being the highest); for the Biological Sciences section, you will receive a separate score from 1-15; and for the Physical Sciences section, you will receive yet another score from 1-15.

For the Writing Sample, you will receive a score from J to T (T is the highest). Three separate graders will grade your MCAT scores.

The scores from the multiple choice sections (Verbal Reasoning, Biological Sciences, and Physical Sciences) are added up to give you a composite score. Your Writing Sample score may be added to the end of the numerical score. For example, the highest score that can be granted on the MCAT is 45T.

The average score for applicants into medical school is 30P. Any score around or above 30P is competitive. A balance of subscores is desirable as a student will need knowledge in all sections to do well in medical school.

Scores are sent out by mail approximately 60 days after each test date. They are also available online for your convenience.
