Your ACT Test results will be ready for you online within 20 days of the national test date. In order to access your score online, you will need to pay an $8 fee.
You will receive a score report in the mail within 1 to 2 months after the test date. However, if you took the Optional Writing Exam, be prepared for a longer wait. Your ACT test score report will not be mailed to you until your essay has been hand-graded.
You may not request ACT test scores by email, phone or fax due to the confidential nature of these test scores.
If you take the ACT Test more than once, your scores will not be averaged together. Instead, you will receive one score for each sitting. You may determine which of your scores to send out to the colleges you plan to apply in.
How is the ACT Scored?
You will receive one Composite Score and four Subject Test Scores, one for each of the four sections (English, Reading, Math and Science). The
ACT test score range
is from 1 to 36, with a score of 36 being the highest. A score of about 20 is average. 26 and above is considered a good ACT score by most colleges.
If you are applying to a nationally acclaimed college, you will need to score in the higher end. Other colleges will accept a more moderate score.
In addition to your Composite and Subject Test Scores, you will also receive 7 Subscores. The Subscores range from 1 to 18, with 18 being the highest. These scores are calculated based on how well you do on the subsections (Usage/Mechanics, Pre-Algebra/Elemntary Algebra, etc). They will not add up to the Subject Test Scores or Composite Scores and serve to show how well you performed in each area of the test.
