Comparing ACT Online Prep Options

Many people take ACT prep courses or buy ACT prep books and practice tests to study at home for the exam.  However, with the internet, it’s very easy to access ACT online prep tests and courses, some of which are even free.  In fact, the ease of ACT online prep courses and reviews almost makes books and courses obsolete.

ACT Online Prep

The two biggest names in ACT prep, Kaplan and the Princeton Review, both have websites with some online content.  Kaplan’s online ACT test prep section is $299 to access, but gives you a large number of interactive exercises, a home study kit, and four full-length practice tests.  Plus, you can access the website any time you like.  Of course, you can get some of this from purchasing the Kaplan ACT test book, but you'll miss out on some of the helpful interactive features of the website.

If you don’t want to pay the $299 fee, there are a couple of free features on the Kaplan website that you can take advantage of.  You can order a free ACT test quiz book and ACT practice test to help you prepare for the real thing.  There are also a number of practice questions and study strategies on the website for you to read over and use when preparing for the ACT examination.

The Princeton Review website has a number of ACT online prep options for you.  If you sign up for the full "LiveOnline" prep course, you’ll actually get to talk to real instructors and other students online while studying.  This package includes thirty hours of online lessons, eight online classes taught by a professor, 4 tests, worksheets and tests you can print, and a set of headphones and a microphone to use when chatting with your online professor and fellow students.  Of course, these online classes don’t come cheap – as of right now, you’ll pay $909 dollars for this online ACT prep course.

If this is a little much for you, and you just want to take the online lessons and tests, you can enroll in the Princeton Review's "Online" course.  This ACT online prep costs $535 and includes everything except the eight online courses.  If you’re looking for an even cheaper ACT online prep course, the Princeton Review also offers "ExpressOnline" which gives you three hours of multimedia lessons and two online prep tests for just $107.

The Princeton Review does have a few free options, just like Kaplan.  These include an online prep test, a word of the day to help you with the English part of the ACT test and a set of ACT test reports that give you information about recent ACT tests and what experts thought of them.  Even if you can't afford their online ACT prep courses, these features can help supplement a cheaper physical prep book.

Since many of these ACT online prep courses cost money, you’ll need to remain dedicated to them.  After shelling out so much money, you won’t want to miss any of the online Princeton classes, and you don’t want to slack off on working on Kaplan’s online worksheets.  Set a time to work on your ACT online work every day and don’t make excuses for not doing it.  With dedication, you’ll see the time and energy you put into an ACT online prep courses reflected in your test score.
